Varano<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Initially, the hamlet of Varano served as a stronghold for Ancona during its period as a maritime republic (XI c.-1532).<\/p>\n\n

Surrounded by fertile countryside with plenty of vineyards, centuries-old oaks and olive groves, the evocative hilltop village nestled in Conero Nature Reserve features stunning lookouts.<\/p>\n\n

In September, Varano hosts the annual Dialetto Marchigiano <\/em>Festival<\/strong>, which has brought together theater companies from all over the region since 1970. At the same time, visitors have the chance to sip local red wine at Rosso Conero DOC Exhibition<\/strong>.
